Brand Introduction
Hamilton was established in 1892 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA. The brand's first pocket watch, the 'Broadway Limited', gained fame for providing accurate train times. In 1914, it was chosen as a supplier for the United States Air Force, and by 1919, it had begun providing services for ski competitions and the U.S. Postal Service. In the 1930s, it was used as the official watch for many airlines. During World War II, in 1947, Hamilton paused commercial sales to produce nearly one million military watches. In 1970, it launched the world's first digital watch, 'Pulsure', and was acquired by the SSIH group, which included Omega, Tissot, and Longines in 1977. The company joined SMH in 1983, and Hamilton is now part of the Swatch Group.
