Product Introduction
Reproduced full-hull Musashi now comes with etched parts!
The battleship Musashi was the second ship of the Yamato-class, the final class of ships designed and constructed by the Imperial Japanese Navy. It was completed at the Kure Naval Arsenal in August 1942, the year after the outbreak of war.
It was an unprecedented vessel, equipped with nine 46cm main guns, the largest in the world, and displacing 64,000 tons.
It was incorporated into the Combined Fleet on the same day it was completed.
As aircraft became the primary force of the time, Musashi underwent modifications to strengthen its anti-aircraft armament and deployed in the Battle of the Philippine Sea and the Battle of Leyte Gulf.
In October 1944, U.S. forces landed in the Philippines, and the Musashi participated in Operation Sho-Ichi-Go (Battle of Leyte Gulf) as part of the combined forces of the Combined Fleet, including the Yamato and Nagato, but was sunk in the Sibuyan Sea by air attacks.
This product is modeled after the ship's completion in August 1942, and its appearance around October when remaining construction was complete.
The product features a full hull that can be reproduced down to the bottom of the hull, and comes with a pedestal for enjoyable display after completion.
Two types of carrier-based floatplanes are included: the A6M Zero observation plane and the A6M Zero (three-seat) floatplane, with two of each.
Three types of decals are included, replicating the naval ensign, the Japanese flag, and aircraft markings.
The 25mm twin machine guns are available in both the traditional one-piece construction and more precise two-piece construction.
The 25mm machine guns are constructed in two pieces, making it easy to recreate the gunmetal barrel and the hull color of the base.
The product includes photo-etched parts that allow for precise reproduction of fine details that are difficult to reproduce with injection parts.
The photo-etched parts include handrails, ladders, funnel areas, masts, radar, direction finding antenna, boat davits, and a crane.
