"Edo Glass" refers to each piece of glass that is handmade by craftsmen, using a traditional technique that has continued since the Edo period. The glass industry in Tokyo-Edo is said to have begun in the early 18th century with the production of mirrors, glasses, wind chimes, and other items. Later, in the Meiji era, while inheriting the techniques of the Edo period, new knowledge and techniques were introduced from Europe and America, and it developed as a regional industry into the Taisho and Showa periods. In 2002, it was designated as a traditional craft of Tokyo, and in 2014, it was designated as a national traditional craft by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry. Taiburo Kobo's Edo Glass series focuses on designs based on small patterns and ukiyo-e motifs, which have been loved since the Edo period. We would be happy if you could enjoy using each piece of handmade "Edo Glass".
Since all glass is handmade and blown, there may be slight differences in size and color, and small bubbles may remain, but this will not affect the quality. Thank you for your understanding.
